Welcome to the Red Elephant
Gallery—an
online gallery featuring contemporary works by American artists and
craftsmen. After many years of craft shows and open studios and
discussions on how to justify the time (and money) spent doing it,
the Red Elephant Gallery was born in the spring of 2004.
Why the Red Elephant you say? Well, it all started on a spring afternoon
in Santa Fe in 2001. After spending the day searching for treasures
on the mountain road leading to Taos, we were discussing the day’s
adventures over a glass of wine and watching these great elephant sculptures
out of the hotel window. They were huge, and their heads were on pivots
so that when the wind caught their ears their heads went up and down
as if they were running across the fields. And it was windy!
Upon further
investigation we found one smaller shiny red elephant hiding around
the corner and we fell in love with him immediately. Hence the name
Red Elephant Gallery!
Through the gallery, our goal is to provide a wide range of unique,
handmade items in a broad range of colors and styles so that no matter
your budget or taste you will always be able to find that special gift
for that special someone. (Which, of course, could be you!)
We are continuously adding new items and artists so please check back
often and see what’s new. If you would like to be on our mailing
or email list, add your name to our guest book and we will update you
on our new items. Don’t worry we won’t share your
information with anyone else.
We want you to keep visiting our gallery so your comments, ideas, suggestions
and feedback are always welcome. If there are particular items that
you are looking for, let us know. We might be able to find them! Also,
if you have a favorite artist who you think we should look at we’d
love to hear about that person as well.
