Impressing — ceramics
Method of decorating by stamping into a clay surface.
Incalmo — art glass, handblown glass
A technique developed in Italy whereby at least two hot open ended blown glass bubbles are fused together to form a single unit,
usually of different colors. It is done by opening out two blown pieces so the lips are identical in diameter, heating and
bringing the edges together. The joined piece is then freed from one pipe/punty and further worked. If executed properly the
result will yield clean, sharp band of color.
Incising — ceramics
Engraving a decoration into unfired clay.
Inclusions — art glass, handblown glass
Particles of metal, bubbles or similar that occurring naturally within glass or are added for decorative effect.
Iridized Glass — ceramics
Near the end of the blowing process, metal compounds are sprayed, blown or touched to the glass creating an iridescent appearance.
